John 1

Spend some time with John 1 this week — read it or listen to it. As you do, reflect on these questions:
  1. What do these stories reveal about who Jesus is?
  2. What do they show me about how Jesus sees me — my identity as beloved?
Below are some additional questions to help guide your curiosity as you read or listen:
  1. Write down every verb attached to the name of Jesus. Imagine you had to describe Jesus to a friend by simply speaking to his behavior, not words, what would you notice?
  2. What metaphors does Jesus use to describe himself?
  3. What questions does Jesus ask in this chapter?
  4. What commands or invitations does Jesus extend in this chapter?
  5. When does Jesus begin a statement with the word "You"?
  6. What emotions do you notice in Jesus?
  7. How do people respond to Jesus?
  8. Do you notice any patterns or words that catch your attention?
  9. What stories does Jesus tell?
  10. What places does Jesus reference?
